I am outraged! If I want to save my hard earned money to get my botox, I should not pay a penalty(tax) because I can’t stand my wrinkles!! Politics aside, is this a poor choice of potential taxes to help our economy.

  3. Julie says:

Enough already! This will hit the middle class hardest. What are they thinking? Can enjoy anything without being taxed?

In may European and South American countries, cosmetic procedures are, in part, sponsored or subsidized by their governments. Since the 1990s, health care in America has ceased to exist as an industry or a business. Rather, it has been a regulated element of our economy — gone are the days when doctors could actually make a very good living. Insurance for medical malpractice has skyrocketed in the US and many doctors have been forced to retire.
I say enough! Please restore a sense of pride to the aesthetic medical field, and the consumers who benefit from it. NO MORE TAXES!

Thanks BeautyUndercover for keeping us informed. I wonder if the administration is aware of the fact that most procedures are done by working class women struggling to provide for their families. Unfortunately, in America women are judged by not only their skills, but also their appearance.

I am an R.N. working in the world of medical aesthetics for the last 12 years. It is the female, middle class, who seeks out most of the cosmetic procedures. This was not what Obama proposed, to raise taxes on the middle class. It is this “middle aged” group that does need to take care of themselves to either be attractive in the work field and women who just desire to look their best. There are also many instances where necessity vs true cosmetic surgery is left up to the insurance companies to decide. This already is now ruled by non physicians. Now you want more non-medical personal to make that decision for tax purposes…I don’t think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Pammy says:

Next they will tax my hair color!! How absurd!
