Sometimes a signature fragrance just deserves a second chance. This is the case with Stella McCartney’s Peony, a retooled version of the 2006 fragrance, Stella in Two Peony (discontinued in 2011). “We have had so many people over the last years just begging us to bring back Stella Peony,” McCartney told WWD in an exclusive interview. “I get asked all the time: ‘Where did it go? Why can’t I get it anymore?’ It’s really a direct response to people wanting it and asking me about it, which triggered me thinking: ‘Why not?’ It just seemed like a no-brainer to bring it back.”
Stella Peony was created by Firmenich perfumer, Alberto Morillas, for Coty and features top notes of mandarin, freesia, and lotus flower, with base notes of amber and patchouli. Together this makes a bolder, more floral, seductive, scent than the original, Stella in Two Peony. Model Arizona Muse serve’s as the fragrance’s face in a campaign shot by Mary McCartney, Stella’s sister. Stella Peony launches in the UK on Monday, November 13th, and becomes available in the US on Monday November 28th through sephora.com.
