IS BALD BEAUTIFUL?

Monday, July 26th, 2010

It may look like a menopause nightmare but bald heads and facial hear were on display at Patrick Mohr’s Berlin Fashion Show this month.  Both male and female models were sporting the  look which got us to thinking about how both sexes have to worry about possible hair loss.  It isn’t just men dealing with balding these days.

So what’s a girl to do?  We enlisted the help of  Dr. Peter Goldman who treats a number of Hollywood’s newly thinning  or, shall we say, follically challenged – A-list.  He isn’t running your typical hair club for men.  Especially since half of his clients are women.  Dr. Goldman treats women with monthly injections to help thicken the hair.  He also says Rogaine does wonders for helping women with hair loss.  It doesn’t seem fair that women can have thinning on the scalp but new hairs popping out on the chin!

IS IT ALL IN THE GENES?

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

You often hear men say if you want to know what a woman will look like later in life all you need to do is meet her mother.  It seems that may be true according to new research that shows a woman’s body shape tends to resemble that of her mother, rather than her father.  When University College London researchers studied more than 4,000 families, they found, perhaps not surprisingly, that overweight parents were more to likely to have overweight children.  And the bigger the parents were, the bigger their sons and daughters.  Researcher Professor Jane Wardle said: ‘If both parents are overweight then it is twice as likely that the children will be overweight. If they are obese then it is 12 times as likely and if the parents are severely obese then it is 22 times as likely.  Read more.

CAN YOU GUESS HER AGE?

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Do you think these women are over or under 40?  Do you think they’re close to the same age?  It’s LaToya Jackson on the right who is 54 and on the left is 67-year old Brit Ekland!

IF BIKINIS COULD KILL

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

The Italian island of Ischia is seeing its share of bikini clad American actresses.  A very voluptuous Sofia Vergara hit the beach in a white bikini and the locals were quite impressed.  The 38-year old Modern Family Star has a body reminiscent of actresses from earlier decades.  Heather Graham (who has a completely different body type) also looked amazing at the age of 40 in a bikini.  It looks as though her body hasn’t changed since Boogie Nights which was 13 years ago!

A SCENT TO TURN OFF MOTHS

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

Finally a chic moth repellent that will turn off insects but not humans.  These aren’t Aunt Gertrudes awful smelling mothballs.  Not only do these stylish sachets look and smell good, they actually work.  Leave it to a Woolworth to find a pleasing way to protect our wool sweaters and all our clothes! Priscilla Woolworth is a fourth generation descendent of the famed stores that bare her last name.  She wanted to find an eco-friendly alternative to the harsh odor of those passe white moth balls.  So after some research she put together a fashionable and functional moth guard.  When a human smells her organic sachets mixed with a combination of efficacious herbs, she smiles, when a moth does, it flees the closet in horror. They come in a pack of three for $25 @ priscillawoolworth.com

LADY GAGA LETS IT ALL HANG OUT

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Lady Gaga doesn’t mind showing a little cellulite.  This picture demonstrates why we love Lady Gaga (not to mention she was amazing on The Today Show this morning).   She is so confident that she embraces her flaws.   We know she is often compared to Madonna but it’s refreshing how she isn’t so preoccupied with her physical appearance.  Sure she likes her wardrobe but doesn’t seem to be spending endless hours consumed with perfecting her body.  It also show it’s all about genetics as Lady Gaga is in her early 20’s.

ORANGE ALERT

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Kate Gosselin loves her spray tans and visits to the tanning salon but it seems she has taken it too far!  Over the weekend she was shopping and her skin looked orange!   The woman who became famous as the star of Jon and Kate Plus 8 has been called a tanorexic and this new shade has us wondering if she really can’t see her true colors. (Full picture after jump.) (more…)

ROYAL COSMETIC WORK?

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Does the Queen of Sweden have an over-inflated look?  We found these pictures on the website awfulplastic surgery.com.  They think she has had too much filler put into her face.  Not sure we agree.   What do you think?

BREWING UP BEAUTY

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Let’s face it our skin can really take a hit in the summer from all of the outside elements.  So we decided to ask an expert the best way to protect our skin.  Guess what?  She told us an inexpensive, easy way to do it at home.

Diana Rialys of Premium Skin Care by Diana (and formerly Global Lead  Aesthetician for the celebrity-adorned organic skin care company, Jurlique), shares her simple recipe for a restorative at-home facial:

1.  Wash your face with a gentle facial cleanser.

2.  Fill a medium-sized bowl with warm warder and the juice of 1/2 of
an organic orange.

3.  Create a mask by combining 1 tbsp full-fat natural yogurt (room
temperature) with 1 tsp runny honey (microwaved  for approximately 1
minute to soften).

4.  Soak a washcloth into the orange mixture and then apply cloth to
your face, compressing for approximately 2 minutes.  Do not rinse.

5.  Apply the honey mask with a spatula or paint brush, and allow to
remain on for 20-30 minutes.

6.  Remove the mask with a warm washcloth, then apply your evening
serum and moisturizer.

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

What do you do when your real tattoo starts to fade?  Apparently you use a product called Tattoo brite to bring it back to life.  It restores the ink while making the colors brighter and more brilliant.  Tattoo Brite is the first anti-fade cream designed to reach the dermal levels of the skin to make the color in ones tattoo pop.  It also has an SPF20 and an anti-inflammatory ingredient to protect your tattoo from the harsh sunlight.  It seems there’s a product for everything.
