The theme for Jeremy Scott’s twentieth anniversary show at New York Fashion Week was sparkle and shine! Aside from the all-star lineup, featuring Karlie Kloss, Sofia Richie (left), Gigi Hadid (right), Coco Rocha, Jourdan Dunn, Liberty Ross, Devon Aoki, Joan Smalls, and Stella Maxwell, models were literally adorned in glitter. Designed by Miss Pop for CND, the comet-inspired look was created with silver-dusted digits and featured CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish shades of Hot Pop Pink and Electric Orange and “a pound of glitter” to complement Scott’s collection. MAC Cosmetics makeup artist, Kabuki, added his own sparkle with three rhinestone dots below the models’ lash lines. “There was so much excitement in the clothes that I needed something kind of minimal to really tie in the makeup,” he shared. “We tried to pick these aurora borealis-like different shade crystals, something very simple but playful and a little bit out there and sparkle without transforming the girls too much.”

The Alice and Olivia by Stacey Bendet Spring/Summer 2017 presentation was inspired by 18th century tarot cards and mystic gardens, the clothing and nails embodied the power of positivity and the beauty of nature. The brand selected CND to create its exclusive graphic nail designs, and the collaboration resulted in a sophisticated array of contrasting patterns and lush hues.
For the look above, the CND Design Lab Team used CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish shades from its upcoming Summer 2017 collection to hand-paint the refined garden-inspired designs. “The CND Design Lab Team is renowned for our avant-garde 3D nail designs, so we love the challenge of harnessing that creativity and translating it into precise, wearable art,” said CND Education Manager Roxanne Valinoti. “These nails are flirty yet refined, perfect for a beach getaway or a summer soiree.”
A final trend that emerged from New York Fashion Week appeared on the runway of Libertine’s Fall 2016 presentation: furry nails. According to Jan Arnold, style director and co-founder of Creative Nail Design, it took her CND Design Lab Team nearly 200 hours to create the two-step look.
Arnold revealed the “how to” to Cosmopolitan: simply apply a coat of Vinylux Weekly Polish (in either Rubble or Cream Puff) prior to gluing on a layer of color-coordinated natural animal fur with CND Super Shiney High-Gloss Top Coat.
While we hear that some are calling the trend “the ultimate winter luxury for your nails,” we’re just calling it clueless. What are your thoughts? Clever or Clueless?
