AMANDA PEET: SCARED OF BOTOX & BOOB LIFTS!

Tuesday, April 26th, 2016

amanda-peet-435Amanda Peet recently revealed her tremendous fears of cosmetic enhancement in Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner’s on-line publication, Lenny Letter.  In an essay, entitled, “Amanda Peet:  Never Crossing the Botox Rubicon,” Peet subtitles the piece, “It’s painfully obvious, but I’m still ashamed to admit this: I care about my looks.”  Peet, who recently starred in the HBO series, Togetherness, has been an in-demand actress in Hollywood since her breakout role in the small-screen comedy, Jack & Jill.  Appearing in films such as Something’s Got To Give, Gulliver’s Travels, and Syriana, the 44-year-old has come to the realization that in Hollywood, “employability is based on looks.”  Additionally, she acknowledges that she is competing with younger talent (specifically naming Alicia Vikander), simply to remain relevant.

Peet has maintained her appearance over the years through “soft touches,” such as teeth bleaching, hair coloring, and skin lasering.  She even has a glam squad, consisting of a “trainer, stylist and my Barney’s card.”  Admittedly, “Nothing about this suggests I’m aging gracefully.”  So why not travel to the dark side, as many other have?  The actress simply admits that she is afraid:  “I’m afraid one visit to a cosmetic dermatologist would be my gateway drug. I’d go in for a tiny, circumscribed lift and come out looking like a blowfish.”  She is even more afraid to go under the knife to lift her “saggy boobs,” citing septic shock as a possible complication!

Nevertheless, armed with a good sense of humor and a dose of paranoia, Amanda Peet is a realist.  “Botox or no Botox, we shouldn’t feel bitter, because we’re ALL going to look like shit. Every last one of us. Even Alicia Vikander. (Sorry, Alicia.)”  Well, Amanda, you’ve made your choices and we will make ours to avoid looking like shit.  It doesn’t mean we’ll try Botox, but it also doesn’t mean we won’t consider the boob lift one day.
