THE PRICE OF HONESTY!

Thursday, June 8th, 2017

The Honest Company has just learned that its consumers value truth above all else.  Following a 2016 investigation conducted by The Wall Street Journal, it was revealed that the celebrity brand, founded by Jessica Alba, mislead consumers about a key ingredient found in its soaps and cleaning products.  Honest claimed that those items featured sodium coco sulfate (SCS) rather than the more toxic sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS); however, the Journal determined that  SLS is, in fact, a component of SCS.
In response to the national class action lawsuit filed against the brand, the company agreed to pay a $1.55 million settlement. “We vigorously deny any and all allegations alleged in the lawsuit — specifically that any of our cleaning products contain SLS,” spokeswoman Karen Richman said in a statement. “However, given the fact that continued litigation could be protracted and expensive, we have settled this lawsuit to limit further costs and distraction to our business.”
