Banana Republic and luxury specialty beauty retailer, Cos Bar, are testing the waters of a potentially lucrative partnership.  Debuting a shop-in-shop at Banana Republic’s Grant Avenue Flagship in San Francisco on November 8th, Banana hopes to capture a new audience by introducing high-end beauty items.  This concept has been successfully implemented at retailers such as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People.
While Cos Bar has twenty full-sized retail shops in the U.S., the San Francisco pop-up will measure 400-square feet, approximately one-third the size of a typical location, and be staffed by Cos Bar employees.  Merchandise will span Cos Bar’s luxury brands, such as Clé de Peau and RéVive, but also include some lower priced brands such as Kosås, Bastide, and R & Co.   Speaking with WWD, Cos Bar Chief Executive Officer, David Osen shared, “It is a test … Retail is changing, retailers are partnering together and everyone needs to be nimble about how you think about retail and how you learn.”
