Markwins Beauty Brands has completed a transaction that will usher the brand of LORAC Cosmetics, LLC under the umbrella of Markwins.  LORAC Cosmetics was founded two decades ago by Hollywoodbeauty legend and PRO makeup artist Carol Shawafter she saw the need to develop products that wouldn’t irritate her celebrity clients’ sensitive skin. What resulted was a line of professional, red carpet ready formulations with skin-friendly ingredients available to all. Shaw will continue to work with Markwins as lead consultant on the brand.

As one of the largest privately-owned beauty companies, Markwins continues its industry growth with its fourth major acquisition in fifteen years.  Markwins acquired AM Cosmetics with brands wet n wild and Black Radiance in 2003, Physicians Formula Holdings, Inc. in 2012, and Aspire Brands assets Bonne Bell and Lip Smacker in 2015. With the addition of LORAC, Markwins will complement its already well-established mass beauty portfolio with the addition of this prestige brand.

Slurpee Trays and Sticks renderingFINALUndercover Agent, Beth, remembers trading Bonne Bell Lip Smackers after ballet class during the 1970s.  The delicious lip sticks came in so many fruit, cola, and candy flavors, and a premium was always placed on the ones you could wear around your neck.  Beth shares that after class, her mom would take her to the local 7-Eleven for Slurpees.  Paired with a savory Slim Jim, it was the ultimate treat!  Now that Beth is a 40-something, calorie-conscious adult, she is feeling a bit nostalgic about those delicious afternoons.  Whatever happened to Bonne Bell and Lip Smackers*?  And how can she recreate those memories?  Funny enough, in honor of Slurpee’s 50th birthday, Slurpee Fiftee, the convenience store chain partnered with ChapStick to create limited-edition, iconic Blue Raspberry and Grape-flavored Slurpee lip balms.  Available exclusively at 7-Eleven stores nationwide this summer, they retail for $1.99.

*Bonne Bell is still around, but it sold off its Lip Smackers to Markwins International (the owner of Wet ‘N’ Wild and Physicians Formula brands).
