Celebrity fitness trainer, Luke Zocchi, works with some of the hardest bodies in Hollywood, including fellow Aussies, Chris HemsworthLiam Hemsworth, and Cate Blanchett.  But the fitness guru does not adopt a one size fits all approach to his clients.  “How hard I push and train celebrities depends on the role that they are playing and what look we are trying to achieve,” he shares in an interview with Healthista.  For example, “getting Chris ready for a Marvel film like Avengers or Thor we train up to 6 days a week, doing 1 hour sessions and we are pushing pretty hard.”  Zocchi’s motto for effective change is consistency.  “I think most people are a little impatient and don’t stick to a program long enough for it to work. Then they chop and change what they are doing and just go around in circles,” he explains.  “Commit to something and be honest with yourself then you will see the results!”

Zocchi believes that anyone can get into great shape.  He relies on training, diet, and rest, explaining, “You have to have these three key elements dialled in to get into great shape.”  His go-to exercises are body weight exercises which feature compound movements (i.e. squats, lunges, chin-ups, push-ups, and dips), as they recruit multiple muscle groups simultaneously.  For fat-burning, he turns to High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on a treadmill, focusing on short bursts of intense activity with “rest periods” in between.  His prescription includes twenty intervals of 30-second sprints immediately followed by 30-second rests.  For strength training, though, there is no substitute for the deadlift.  “You recruit so many muscles in your body with just one exercise. It’s sound so simple, but it is a hard exercise to do – picking up a dead weight from the floor.”

WARNING: Embargoed for publication until 00:00:01 on 09/02/2016It seems that Hollywood’s leading ladies have been turning in their (faux) tans, in favor of elegant, alabaster skin.  Actresses such as Renee Zellweger, Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Debicki, Christina Hendricks (pictured from left to right), as well as iconic beauties, Julianne Moore, Nicole Kidman, and Charlize Theron, have all heralded the pale-pallor, often associated with the glamorous stars of black and white cinema.  Why?  First of all, its about the appearance of youth:  everyone knows that the sun causes visible signs of aging.  Secondly, we suspect that tans have simply become too accessible.  After all, now anyone can get a “vacation in a bottle,” and tanned skin has simply become common and even gaudy.  Just look at most reality television show stars.

According to Dr. Sue Ann Wee of Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York, symptoms of sun damage skin also include, coarse skin texture, wrinkles, pigmentation, telangiectasias (spider veins), and laxity.  Aside from staying out of the sun, what can an Undercover Agent do to reverse the damage?  According to the good doctor, there are many viable options to help turn back the clock and deliver a complexion that looks like it was sitting in the shade all summer long.   There are many over-the-counter brightening and anti-pigment products available on the market, as well as pearly skin-brightening primers and illuminating cosmetics.  But when you need something more aggressive, Dr. Wee suggests:

  • Microneedling (low-tech, yet effective — and great for those who are seeking a more “natural” treatment)
  • Clear + Brilliant laser (a gentle laser with no downtime)
  • Lumecca IPL (a brand new light treatment that dramatically improves brown age spots while also reducing red vessels)
  • Chemical Peels (they work by exfoliating or removing the top layers of the skin and rejuvenating the layers underneath)
  • Fraxel (the big gun that totally transforms the skin)

 Blanchett SKII
  • Best Actress nominee and SK-II Global Ambassador, Cate Blanchett, made a stunning appearance on the red carpet Sunday night, showcasing her radiant beauty and porcelain skin. Her secret skincare weapon is SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. “For many years I have spoken about the profound effect that this ‘miracle water’ has had on my skin,” she said. “Having used SK-II Facial Treatment Essence for 15 years I can confidently say it has not only transformed my complexion, but quite possibly changed the destiny of my skin as well”

Makeup artist, Jeanine Lobell, prepped Blanchett’s skin with SK-II’s R.N.A. Power Radical New Age Essence and R.N.A. Power Radical New Age Cream, to help minimize pores, plump skin, and provide deep hydration, firming, smoothing, and tightening skin.“The new R.N.A. Power line instantly refreshed and hydrated Cate’s skin, creating a beautiful, dewy glow,” said Lobell. “Having a good base for makeup application is the key to a beautiful final makeup look.”

To complement Blanchett’s stunning seafoam gown, Lobell chose soft, pastel makeup tones, from Giorgio Armani Beauty, to highlight her radiant skin.

  • She applied a pink glow to the apples of Cate’s cheeks, using Giorgio Armani Cheek Fabric blush in #506.
  • For a plum smoky eye, Lobell began with Eyes to Kill Solo in #15 all over the lid and into the crease. Then she dampened a thin flat-edged brush before applying Eyes to Kill Solo in #5, as a liner, creating a blurred, feathered look — rather than a harsh, solid line.  Finally she layered Eye Tint in #10 on Blanchett’s lash line, for the smoldering eye effect.
  • For Blanchett’s flushed lips, Lobell applied Giorgio Armani Smooth Silk Lip Pencil in #1 all over, ensuring a nice and even lip throughout the evening.  Layering a pinky nude shade of Rouge d’Armani Lipstick, she completed the red carpet look.
