CAN PRODUCTS REALLY FREEZE, PLUMP, AND LIFT?

When shopping pricey skincare products, its best to be savvy about claims and have realistic expectations.  There are no firming or tightening products whose results can duplicate what one receives from in-office medical procedures such as dermal fillers, Botox, lasers, or cosmetic surgery.  Yet, some products can garner desired  results for a finite amount of time. Harriet Ploeger, Executive Director of Swiss results-driven skincare brand, Instytutum, asserts, “While some cream promise to freeze lines and wrinkles or plump and lift the skin, the effects are simply temporary.”

That is not to say that one will not receive an immediate tightening effect; however, Ploeger warns of the condition of the skin after application.  Typically, the gel-textured product contracts, dehydrating the skin and often causing pilling, like a facial mask.  Denver Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Manish Shah, concurs.  “Almost without exception, when you buy a product claiming to tighten skin, its effects, if any, are due to ingredients such as film-forming agents. Just like the name states, film-forming agents form a film on the skin, and that can make the skin ‘feel’ tighter.” (more…)

SEPHORA’S HOUSE OF BEAUTY COMES TO LA!

Monday, October 8th, 2018

On October 20-21, 2018, Sephora will commemorate its 20-year success in the United States with the launch of SEPHORiA, a  two-day beauty event fusing high-touch physical and digital experiences at The Majestic Downtown in Los Angeles.  This year’s theme, House of Beauty, will invite guests to literally unlock a new beauty experience behind every door. The interactive rooms will immerse beauty lovers in highly experiential and customized activities featuring more than 50 of Sephora’s most-loved prestige beauty brands. Guests can create and share their own beauty adventure by exploring new inspirational looks, testing and trying hundreds of products and learning to master new makeup techniques.

Sephora will also collaborate with influential top-tier beauty ambassadors for SEPHORiA’s social campaign to further fuel excitement and awareness. Several of these beauty gurus — including Charlotte Tilbury, Jen Atkin, Kandee Johnson, Chrissy Teigen, Mario Dedivanovic, Dr. Dennis Gross, and others — will also be on-site with Sephora to further encourage learning, inspiration, play and sharing among attendees.

“At the heart of it, SEPHORiA sets out to celebrate the often indescribable euphoria you get from playing in the vast world of beauty – from discovering game-changing products or trying out a new look to engaging with digital technology that takes personalization to a whole new level,” said Deborah Yeh, SVP of Marketing and Brand, Sephora. “We’ve drawn from our deep understanding of the kinds of physical and digital beauty experiences clients love from Sephora, and set out to create the ultimate event that fuses fun, education and inspiration, and gives our community a place where they can live out all of their beauty fantasies.”

UNDERCOVER AGENT: NICOLE B!

Thursday, February 22nd, 2018
AGE:  33
CITY/STATE:  Denver, CO
PHILOSOPHY: Take good care of your skin.
AM BEAUTY ROUTINE:   Rinse face with water, apply Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Dew It All Eye Gel, Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 25, Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush or MAC, MAC Paint Pot in Painterly as an eye shadow base, eye shadow (usually MAC, Pat McGrath, or Urban Decay), Tarte Lights! Camera! Lashes! 4-In-1 Mascara, and a lipstick or gloss from my (probably too big!) collection. My favorite lipstick brands are MAC, Pat McGrath, Chanel and Rimmel London.
PM BEAUTY ROUTINE:  Wash face with Nubian Heritage African Black Soap and a few drops of pure Argan oil before Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Dew It All Eye Gel and MD Complete Wrinkle and Radiance Remedy every night (which I found through Beauty Undercover! It has Retinol and Vitamin C). Over that I use Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Hyaluronic Essence, and either Lumene Bright Now Vitamin C Sleeping Cream or First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. A few times a week I exfoliate with Lumene Kirkas Glow Reveal 60 Second Facial and a clay mask mixed with water and honey once or twice a month for a really deep clean. I moisturize my hands and feet with coconut oil every night.
CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT PRODUCT:  Lumene skin care products – they have completely changed my skin for the better!
CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT COSMETIC:  Lipstick!
MOST EXPENSIVE PRODUCT:  Pat McGrath kits, like the Metalmorphosis 005 Everything Kit. It’s a splurge but the quality and pigmentation of every product is so good!
BEST BARGAIN PRODUCT:  Rimmel London Lipsticks.
FAVORITE BEAUTY TOOL:  Zoeva Makeup Artist Brush Set (25 brushes). I’ve had these brushes for over 2 years and they still look and work the same as the day I got them. Quality brushes are a good investment.
COMMENTS: You can never have too many lipsticks!
