BareMinerals, the indie brand acquired by Shiseido in 2010, is hitting refresh with a clean marketing focus and a few new recognizable faces.  “The Power of Good” campaign, launched this summer with actress Letitia Wright (Black Panther), reminds us of the brand’s clean-mineral heritage:  Full of What’s Good / Free of What’s Fake.  Now the brand is introducing two new faces, Hailey Baldwin and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, as well as its first official makeup artist, Nikki DeRoest.

Baldwin and Huntington-Whiteley will promote the Full Of/Free Of initiative on social media, particularly on YouTube, where they have shot individual makeup tutorials.  Full Of/Free Of states that BareMinerals continues to be free of harsh chemicals and unnecessary additives including Chemical Sunscreens, Coal Tar, Formaldehyde, Mineral Oil, Microbeads, Parabens, Phthalates, Propylene Glycol, Triclosan and Triclocarban.

“Hailey and Rosie demonstrate that our passion for the power of our products and the power of our message is shared by some of the world’s most influential women,” said Jill Scalamandre, President, bareMinerals. “We chose Letitia earlier in the year because of her personal and impactful message about the world of clean beauty. When looking at what unites our ambassadors, it was clear that they all live their lives with humanity, meaning, and strive to positively affect the people they touch. We are excited to watch these partnerships grow.”

Summertime is the best time to enjoy luscious, colorful foods and outdoor activities.  But did you know that both can contribute to dark teeth-stains?  Manhattan cosmetic dentist, Dr. Victoria Veytsman, official dentist to The Miss America Pageant, helps supermodels, Karlie Kloss and Hailey Baldwin, maintain their dazzling smiles.  Here she shares some surprising summertime favorites which cause staining to our teeth.

Dark Berries.  While they are full of antioxidants and healthy, dark berries can stain porous teeth.   Be sure to wipe teeth with a tissue and rinse after eating to minimize stains.   There are even wine wipes and white wipes that work to remove the stains and brighten after eating/drinking dark colored foods.

Swimming.  If you swim for hours each week, you could end up with spots called “swimmer’s calculus.” The high pH of the chemicals in the pool water causes proteins to harden into a dark brown tartar. Professional whitening is required.

Popsicles. Brightly colored popsicles may be refreshing on a hot summer day, but the artificial colors stain.  Make sure to brush after consuming to remove any colors.

Citrus Fruits.  Lemons, oranges and grapefruits are highly acidic and can cause discoloration because they can erode tooth enamel.   There are many products that support enamel from toothpastes to mouthwashes.  While enamel erosion can’t be undone, you can prevent.

 Hailey Baldwin
Hailey Baldwin, 19, has recently partnered with Australian cosmetics giant, ModelCo, to launch her first cosmetics collaboration.  Posting the venture on Instagram, Baldwin said, “So excited to reveal my exclusive limited edition, cosmetics collaborations with @bodelco_cosmetics. #TheBeautySquad COMING SOON.”  The model also urged followers to join her list at ModelCo.  This is not the first time that Baldwin has partnered with an Australian brand.  In fact, it was recently announced that she has become the new face of accessories company, The Daily Edited.  Speaking with Vogue Australia she said, “I am constantly asked about my skin and what products I use to get that ‘glow’… this is why I have incorporated some highlighter style products in my Hailey Baldwin for ModelCo collection.”
