The Queen’s Birthday Honours List recognizes the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom. Each recipient exemplifies “the very best” of its nation and this year’s 1057 recipients range in age from a 103-year woman her charitable service (having spent over 97 years volunteering for the Royal British Legion) to a 20-year old Paralympian.  While the Queen’s birthday was actually April 21st, the announcement typically falls in June. The ceremony, known as Trooping of the Colour, has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years.  This weekend the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex participated in the pageantry, alongside the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince Harry, Kate Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William.

Notable in beauty were perfumer, Jo Malone, awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), for services to the British Economy and the GREAT Britain campaign, and makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury, Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to the Beauty and Cosmetics Industry.  Judy Naaké, founder of St. Tropez Tan, received an MBE for services to Entrepreneurship, the community and Philanthropy, while Carole Anne McCarthy, President of Cosmetic Executive Women UK, was awarded for services to Female Entrepreneurs and to charity.

For years, beauties have enjoyed the paintbrush concealer (think YSL’s Touche Éclat), the paintbrush lipgloss, and even the paintbrush sunscreen.  Now English fragrance company, Jo Loves (Jo Malone’s second venture), is debuting its Fragrance Paintbrush, a brush applicator that releases a scented gel formula onto the skin.  Longer-lasting than a spray, the brushes retail for $55 and $105. The paintbrush invention has been driven by millennials, according to Malone. “They were coming out saying, ‘I don’t want to spray fragrance anymore, I want to use a paintbrush,” she says.  The Fragrance Paintbrush will be available at on September 6th and in select Sephora stores on October 27.

This Valentine’s Day hit all the right notes with a customized gift from Pinrose.  The clever and inventive fragrance company from San Francisco offers customers a personalized online shopping experience that prescribes a unique “scent profile” after completing its online quiz.  Using the science of synesthesia (a neurological condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensory sensation of another), Pinrose connects one’s preferences for certain colors, shapes, sounds and textures, and maps the data onto the olfactory spectrum.

Pinrose has collaborated with renowned master perfumers, like David Apel, as well as top perfume houses to create and manufacture its ten signature perfumes.  Each fragrance offers complex, yet, creative recipes of notes that inspire and excite, with devilish names, such as, Garden Gangster, Cuddle Punk, Campfire Rebel, and Secret Genius.  With so many fabulous choices, we’d love to have them all!  That’s why we’re crazy about the brand’s Hero Gift Set.  Each features a bow-wrapped iridescent cosmetic bag filled with ten Petals of the entire Pinrose collection and a gift card, redeemable online, for a 30 mL bottle of your desired fragrance.

Pinrose is offering thirty lucky Beauty Undercover Subscribers an opportunity to SWAG its Hero Gift Set (retail $55), simply by following them on Instagram or liking them on Facebook and entering  here.  This SWAG Alert is open to Subscribers 18 years or older with a valid US mailing address only.
