In anticipation of World Food Day on October 16, Michael Kors has unveiled a host of exciting initiatives to support the 5th anniversary of Watch Hunger Stop, the brand’s vital, annual campaign to fight global hunger.  The brand’s partner in the effort is the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and all funds raised support WFP’s school meals program. Michael Kors is raising funds by selling limited-edition t-shirts, sunglasses, and watches for the Watch Hunger Stop Campaign.

Michael Kors will continue its partnership with actress, author, entrepreneur and longtime-supporter, Kate Hudson, who will once again lend her talents to support the cause.  “There’s something so simple but so deeply important about the work that the World Food Programme does,” says Hudson. “It is not just that [WFP] feeds children—though they do that and it’s incredible. They also work to support families and education and local economies, working towards a bigger picture that enables communities, and ultimately countries, to get back on their feet. I really do believe that if we work together at this, we will see an end to world hunger.”

Kate Hudson quickly transformed from Golden Girl (left) into Silver Ice Queen with her stunning, white, one-shouldered Stella McCartney gown and matching top-knot.  Celebrity stylist, Peter Gray, used ABBA Pure Performance Vegan Hair Care and Cricket Co. Professional Tools to create both McCartney’s (inset, second) flowing waves and Kate’s sleek bun.  “(Stella and Kate) always look beautiful. We worked together on these creative looks that didn’t appear too pretty – they were more lived in and distressed, yet stunning,” Gray shared.

How did Gray achieve Hudson’s steely look?  Gray first prepped the hair with Thermal Protect Spray then applied ABBA Volumizing Root Lift Spray on damp hair from middle to ends of hair, coming through with the Cricket Silkomb Rattail Pro-50 for more texture and volume.  Then he used a dash of  Blow Dry Lotion “to create a bit of slip” before smoothing hair with the Cricket Copper Clean Paddle brush.  Drying damp hair with the Centrix Q-Zone Dryer on low heat and low blow, Gray created texture and a” lived-in look,” pinching sections with the thumb and forefinger and applying ABBA Dry Shampoo to set the hair.

Next Gray took the Ultra Smooth Professional Curling Iron to create diagonal curls and used ABBA Firm Finish Hair Spray as a setting spray.  Once dry, he pull Hudson’s hair upward into a high ponytail using the Amped Up Teasing brush and securing with an elastic before adding a weft made from human hair for enhanced volume and length to the ponytail. Holding the Cricket Silkomb Rattail Pro-50 at the center of the ponytail, Gray wrapped hair around the tail comb to create Hudson’s top knot.

But what about Hudson’s striking white color?  “Lastly, we sprayed talcum powder around the hair line, a ton of ABBA Dry Shampoo and then Firm Finish Hair Spray to seal the look.”
