Launching today is Kim Kardashian West’s fragrance debut with a trio of eau de parfums based on a single ingredient, gardenia. Limited-edition bottles of Crystal Gardenia, Crystal Gardenia Citrus, and Crystal Gardenia Oud are available exclusively on-line at kkwfragrance.com and briefly in-store at Violet Grey in West Hollywood. The 30-ml and 75-ml-sized frosted glass atomizers appear elemental, reminiscent of healing crystals. This is actually by design, reflecting Kardashian West’s “calm and healing” approach towards developing each scent with French fragrance house, Givaudan. Priced at $35 and $60 per bottle, the Crystal Gardenia launch of 300,000 units has a projected sales volume of $14.3 million.
After the Paris robbery, numerous friends showered Kardashian West with collections of healing crystals, “and I started to really dig deeper into what they meant and the meanings behind them,” she shared with WWD. “Obviously I’m in the celebrity category, but I just wanted a bottle that was so simple that can look like it’s something sitting on your counter and be a beautiful object. I tried to make it really timeless so that it can’t just all be about a celebrity fragrance.”

Borrowing a page from Kim Kardashian-West’s playbook, Ariana Grande debuted a new look on Instagram over the weekend. Describing her locks as grey, she clarified for anyone who might mistake her silvery locks as lavender (the tint is actually a filter). In June, the singer experimented with an ombré looking, calling her highlights, “moonlightbae.” In addition to Kardashian-West, celebrities have chosen to go grey over the years have included Lady Gaga (2015), Hillary Duff (2015), Zosia Mamet (2014), Kelly Osbourne (2012), Ellie Goulding (2011), and Pink (2010).
