A ROYAL BEAUTY SECRET!
Recently we learned about a 300-year-old beauty salve, beloved by both European and Hollywood royalty. A multi-tasking balm developed to combat chapped, rough skin as well as burns and bruises, Pommade Divine, was first promoted by Princess Elisabeth Charlotte (great-grandmother to Marie Antoinette) during the reign of Louix XIV. Used to treat soldiers during the French Revolution, it remained in favor during the Edwardian era, where it was affectionally known as “Nanny’s Magic Ointment.”
In the 1980’s, the parent company retired Pommade Divine, until the brand was revived by two devotees, a former executive at Procter & Gamble and a writer for British Vogue, who embraced the balm for its beauty applications. Model/makeup artist, Jemma Kidd, confesses, “My hands look younger, hydrated, and my nails have strengthened,” thanks to the salve. And actress Sienna Miller, shares, “I was brought up with Pommade Divine; now I use it on my daughter. It’s a fantastic product that I always have in the house.”
