Yara Shahidi’s classic, bold hair made a voluminous statement pared with her elegant Chanel gown at Monday night’s Met Gala.  Celebrity stylist, Nai’vasha Johnson, teamed up with John Frieda Hair to create Shahidi’s glamorous 60 inch ponytail with some “whimsical texture.”

Johnson began by separating clean, dry hair in quadrants and taming frizz with John Frieda Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse.  Thoroughly distributing the product through with a paddle brush, she then sectioned hair into three triangles and applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Air Dry Waves Styling Foam to enhance Shahidi’s natural curls.  Brushing each section smoothly from the nape, she clasped the sections tightly with a bungee to secure into a sleek ponytail.  Removing a small section of hair, she wrapped it around the pony to cover the cord, securing with a pin.  Then she misted the ponytail with John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioner to hydrate the hair and before adding a lace mantilla, in observance of the Costume Institute’s exhibition, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

Kate Bosworth’s perfect top-knot from the Met Gala was simple, sophisticated, and easily achieved at home! Celebrity hairstylist, Bridget Brager, shares her technique for achieving her perfectly sleek, and chic, hairstyle using drugstore products.

To prep Bosworth’s hair, Brager applied Infusium Repair + Renew with Argan Oil and Keratin Smoothing Serum from mid-shaft to the ends to smooth the cuticle and illuminate shine from within. “This was crucial in helping to achieve this sleek and smooth look,” she explains.  Next she dried the hair using the PRO Beauty Tools Professional Ionic AC Motor Dryer on medium heat with a large Ionic Thermal Brush.  Once smoothed, she styled the hair with PRO Beauty Tools 1” Professional Ceramic Shine Digital Straightener, to create a glossy effect, before pulling the lengths of hair up to just beneath the crown of the head “for the perfect profile.”  Brushing it through to the scalp, Brager secured the hair with a bungee and spritzed Infusium Repair + Renew Leave In Treatment Spray to “hand craft petal like sections of hair” and carefully pin to create a rose effect.  For extra hold, she sprayed with hairspray and then added a pea-sized dab of serum.

Avon Global Celebrity Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen worked with Saoirse Ronan for Monday night’s Met Gala. Andersen’s inspiration was “feathered impact,” drawn from the beautiful details of Ronan’s Christopher Kane gown.

For Ronan’s skin, Anderson began with Avon Ideal Flawless Foundation and then applied Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Heavenly Pink to her cheeks.

For eyes, Andersen used a really neutral, pink eyeshadow on the lid and created a feathered wing using Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eyeliner. She finished with NEW Avon Big & Multiplied Volume Mascara in Black.  Very dramatic and glam!

Avon True Color Perfectly Matte in Pure Pink finished off the look with a pale, neutral lip.
