The Queen’s Birthday Honours List recognizes the achievements of a wide range of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom. Each recipient exemplifies “the very best” of its nation and this year’s 1057 recipients range in age from a 103-year woman her charitable service (having spent over 97 years volunteering for the Royal British Legion) to a 20-year old Paralympian.  While the Queen’s birthday was actually April 21st, the announcement typically falls in June. The ceremony, known as Trooping of the Colour, has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years.  This weekend the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex participated in the pageantry, alongside the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince Harry, Kate Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William.

Notable in beauty were perfumer, Jo Malone, awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), for services to the British Economy and the GREAT Britain campaign, and makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury, Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to the Beauty and Cosmetics Industry.  Judy Naaké, founder of St. Tropez Tan, received an MBE for services to Entrepreneurship, the community and Philanthropy, while Carole Anne McCarthy, President of Cosmetic Executive Women UK, was awarded for services to Female Entrepreneurs and to charity.
