Makeup tool brand, Real Techniques, has announced its first successful space mission to celebrate the launch of its latest limited-edition collection, Brush Crush Volume 2. Working with the “near space experts,” Sent Into Space, the collection launched from Earth using an enormous helium-filled balloon. Brushes ascended at a rate of 5 meters per second for 116 minutes and travelled to an altitude of 36,338 meters (roughly four times the height of Mount Everest) before landing back near Thorne, South Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom. Sent Into Space called the launch, “the first makeup brushes ever to be sent into space.“

Review site, Influenster, released its 2017 Reviewers’ Choice Awards: Best in Beauty, with indie brands such as ColourPop, Sunday Riley, and Amika taking home top honors. Of the seventy winners announced, its no surprise that drugstore and luxury beauty took home twenty-one awards apiece. Best in Overall Beauty winners featured products from a variety of brands, including Laneige, Real Techniques, wet n wild, Urban Decay, Bobbi Brown, Shea Moisturem and Bioré.
According to Elizabeth Scherle, cofounder and president of the site, “Since Influenster is a data-driven insights platform with over one million reviews generated each month, our focus on organic review activity to reveal the winners is a celebration of the power of online peer-to-peer recommendations in shaping the beauty industry.”
