We no longer have to head to the nail salon to experience professional-looking special effects, thanks to Sally Hansen.  The brand’s new Miracle Gel Color Whirls create liquefied looks over your favorite Miracle Gel chip-resistant polishes.  The overcoats — available in Steam Punk or Marble-ous — react to the color beneath it and separate, creating a marbled effect on the nail! Simply apply two coats of your favorite Miracle Gel polishes, one coat of Color Whirl, and then seal with Miracle Gel Top Coat.

Sally Hansen is offering a limited number of lucky Beauty Undercover Subscribers an opportunity to SWAG their choice of  Miracle Gel Color Whirls plus a coordinating Miracle Gel Polish* (retail $19.99) simply by following them on Instagram (or Facebook if you don’t have) and entering here. *Miracle Gel polish will be at Sponsor’s election

Celebrity manicurist, Skyy Hadley, knows that performing an at-home pedicure can be challenging — especially for her A-List clients Faith Evans, P. Diddy (Sean Combs), Janelle Monae and LaLa Anthony.  Every great nail technician begins with a well-stocked toolkit and for DIYers, Hadley suggests first assembling: a cuticle remover, cuticle pusher, cuticle nipper, nail clipper, nail file, polish remover, orange wood stick, cotton balls/pads, base coat, top coat, and foot file.
Hadley beings with cuticle remover, allowing it to sit on the toes for the time indicated on the packaging.  Using the cuticle pusher, she moves cuticles away from the base of the toenails and cleans the feet with body wash or soap to wash away excess cuticle remover.  Next she carefully removes any loose cuticles or hangnails with the nipper. “You don’t want to cut into your cuticles,” Hadley warns.  “Nicking this area can lead to infection.”  If necessary, she trims nails with a clipper and then files them smooth and into an attractive shape.  Using a cotton ball or pad, she wipes each toenail with polish remover to get rid of excess oils prior to applying base coat .  Then she applies two coats of regular polish and cleans any polish slips with an orangewood stick and remover.  Hadley finishes by applying a clear top coat to protect her work.  When dry, she covers in Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil, which helps to soften and increase nail flexibility.
PRO TIP: To make feet less rough, stick feet in a tub of warm water with a capful of distilled white vinegar and/or a few drops of tea tree oil for about 15 minutes. For water retention or particularly achy feet, toss in a couple of tablespoons of Epsom salts. Gently dry feet and use a foot file (Hadley suggests the Ped Egg Pedicure Foot File) to get slough off dead skin.
PRO TIP:  To prevent chipping or smudging, reapply a layer or clear topcoat (Hadley’s favorite is Lauren B. Gel-Like Top Coat) every two to three days.
