The Honest Company has just learned that its consumers value truth above all else.  Following a 2016 investigation conducted by The Wall Street Journal, it was revealed that the celebrity brand, founded by Jessica Alba, mislead consumers about a key ingredient found in its soaps and cleaning products.  Honest claimed that those items featured sodium coco sulfate (SCS) rather than the more toxic sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS); however, the Journal determined that  SLS is, in fact, a component of SCS.
In response to the national class action lawsuit filed against the brand, the company agreed to pay a $1.55 million settlement. “We vigorously deny any and all allegations alleged in the lawsuit — specifically that any of our cleaning products contain SLS,” spokeswoman Karen Richman said in a statement. “However, given the fact that continued litigation could be protracted and expensive, we have settled this lawsuit to limit further costs and distraction to our business.”

While typically we let our hair go darker during fall in winter, Jessica Alba is taking a different approach.  The actress, mother, and The Honest Company co-founder recently thanked celebrity colorist, Robert Ramos, for giving her “more natural” honey-brown hair.  Alba shared her transformation on Snapchat in a ten-second video. “Thank you Roberto for my awesome hair I love it, such a pretty natural color, honey brown,” she exclaimed.  Ramos’s Estilo Salon in Los Angeles has a loyal celebrity clientele, boasting a roster which includes Bette Midler, Eva Mendes, Rachel McAdams, George Lopez, Stevie Nicks, and Katey Sagal.

Mother, actress, and business tycoon, Jessica Alba, seems to have it all!  Recently, Alba, 35, collaborated with the German consumer products company, Braun, a manufacturer responsible for many hair removal, grooming, and hair care products.
Spilling her beauty secrets while promoting the brand, Alba shared, “I exfoliate with the Braun Face Spa and my cleanser every night, then put on a night cream and an eye cream. My mum taught me to always remove my makeup – even when I’m feeling lazy.”
How does she maintain her knockout body?  “I try to eat less packaged or processed food, and eat more fresh and organic-when-possible food. I also don’t eat refined sugar, don’t have a lot of wheat or gluten and don’t have a lot of — if any — dairy.  Also drink a ton of water!”
Promoting her $1.7 billion business, The Honest Company and Honest Beauty, she continues, “In the morning, I use the Honest Beauty Everything Primer and then a hydrating mist to plump my skin up and make it look dewy. Finally I use the Honest Beauty Magic Balm on the creases of my eyes and my lips – it’s my base before I put makeup on,” adding, “Whatever I choose, I also make sure there are no synthetic fragrances in it so I don’t break out.”
